O nature!I donot aspire

啊，大自然，我不渴求

To be the highest in thy choir,-

成为你合奏中的最高音

To be a meteor in thy sky,

成为你天幕中的一颗流星

Or comet that may range on high;

或一颗遨游醒目的彗星；

Only a zephyr that may blow

我只想做轻风一阵

Among the reeds by the river low ;

吹拂于河边的芦苇间

Give me thy most privy  place

给我你最私密的地方

Where to run my airy race.

让我轻快地奔跑

In some withdraw,unpublic mead

在一处偏僻，无人知晓的草地

Let me sigh upon a reed,

让我依傍芦苇而叹息

Or in the woods, with leafy din,

或在树林中，与繁茂的枝叶絮絮低语

Whisper the still evening in:

迎来寂静的夜晚

Some still work give me to do,-

让我做一些安静的工作

Only -be it near to you!

只要能亲近你

For I'd rather be thy child

因为我宁愿在这荒野的林中

And pupil ,in the forest wild,

做你的孩子及学童

Than be the king of men elsewhere,

不愿在尘世封王

And most sovereign slave of care;

及做至高无上无上的烦恼的奴婢

To have one moment of thy dawn,

宁愿片刻沉浸在你的黎明

Than share the city's year forlom.

不愿分享都市整年的凄凉孤独
